Project 3: Narrative

Image
For the 3rd project we had to tell a narrative through a series of photos. I decided to explore a more dark route in the sense of exploring depression and anxiety. I personally deal with anxiety but not depression so I was more of an outsider approach. For my first photo, I wanted to show a feel of being trapped and wanting to overcome the anxiety and depression. I chose to edit 2 of the windows with blue to represent the darkness and then had the other being light to show what someone would want rather then being depressed. For my second photo I wanted to show a sense of drowning from the depression and anxiety. I chose my kitchen because I wanted to show that depression and anxiety can hit people at any time. For the last picture I chose to show what someone might go through in their heads dealing with such disorders. Overall, this project was a bit of a challenge in the sense I struggled with finding a narrative. However I think my concept came across well.

Project 2: Self-Portrait

For the second project, we had to take self-portraits and portraits of a friend or family member. For my first photo, I wanted to show a sense of mystery and darkness. So I decided to make sure everything but my eyes were dark and gloomy. The streak in my eyes represents a sense of openness and the good in me. For my second photo I wanted to show a sense of who I am and something that plays a huge role in my life-my job. Working there for over a year and a half you meet so many new people and working there about 5 days a week the job in a sense becomes like another little family. As for my last photo I wanted to show a vintage feel-a polaroid feel. I wanted a candid feel to it as well which I think I executed well. Overall this project was my favorite throughout this entire course and I truly am interested in exploring more in this aspect of photography.
